Ilze moved a motion to approve the minutes of the 08/11/2007 meeting, seconded by Simha, and supported unanimously.

MWAIS 2008 Conference

John King has agreed to be the keynote speaker at MWAIS 2008. He would also be conducting a doctoral student session.

Deepak requested Matt to send a 1 page flyer about the doctoral session to the MWAIS group, in order to spread the word.

Ilze recommended paying close attention at the conference schedule in order to avoid doctoral session and presentation time overlaps for doctoral students.

Dan proposed that Matt should send a note to AIS members updating them about the keynote speaker and YouTube upload about MWAIS 2008. Proposal was supported unanimously.

MWAIS SL Panel

Information update provided by Simha (click here for latest information). Panelists would consist of three academics, and two practitioners. The location of the meeting is TBA, but will be one of the several conference locations in SL.

Simha will follow up with Blake Ives. Other 1-2 academicians are to be decided. Chelley is in touch with few people from IBM regarding practitioner participation.

Ilze proposed to advertise the SL panel to the AIS community, which was supported by all.

Dan is in touch with Tony Adams from Alpine Executive Center on SL, which may be a potential venue for hosting the panel. Several facilities such as making powerpoint presentations, shoutcast, registration facilities/nametags are available there. Dan mentioned that many locations have a typical capacity of 60-70 people. It is expected that the meeting would have about 20-25 people.

Simha suggested having a small group meeting on October 15, 2007 at 1 p.m. CST in SL at Dan's "Decision Support" group. Dan would send the SURL to the group.

Simha also solicited response from members in regards to questions for the panel. Everyone agreed on sending at least one question to Simha.

Dan would create a primer on how to attend a meeting in SL, along with Chelley.

MWAIS Website

Amit has sent the information for purchasing the domain name to Chelley. Chelley would work on it by the end of September.

Currently, the MWAIS website content is moved to google pages by Amit. He proposed a more dynamic website such as one using wordpress, in order to provide more up to date and dynamic content creation facilities. Simha voiced his concern regarding the possibility of an administrative overhead, given that majority of the content is static. The newer AIS CMS may have better hosting facilities too. It was decided to continue the conversation with AIS webmaster, and discuss this further in the next meeting.

Past Conference Content Archival

Chelley suggested creating a checklist of items to be archived from past conferences, and thus creating a template. This was agreed upon by everyone. Amit would work creating a first cut at this checklist.

Conference proceedings for MWAIS 2007 have been uploaded by Matt and Deepak. They are now available on AISeL.

MWAIS 2007: Rassule Hadidi and Michele Lee provided an update on the MWAIS 2007 annual meeting. There were 53 attendees for this meeting, and there was a small surplus from the meeting. Also, a few expenses were yet to be settled, and were going be handled by Michele by mid-September. Proceedings of MWAIS 2007 would be published soon, as indicated by Rassule.
