Minutes

The meeting was commenced at 1:05 PM Central via online conference. Attending were Executive Committee Members Dan Power, Ilze Zigurs, Chelley Vician, Matt Germonprez, and Vance Wilson. Also in attendance were MWAIS'06 Program Chair Barbara Klein, Conference Chairs Simha Magal and Paul Leidig, and Rassule Hadidi, representing a proposal for hosting the MWAIS 07 Conference.

Minutes of the April 3 email meeting were approved. It was noted that several participants were experiencing problems with audio connections, which in some cases obstructed their ability to interact in the meeting.

Simha reports preparations for the MWAIS'06 conference are mostly completed. The budget appears to be adequate to fund expenses given the 50 current paid registrants. Paul reports that reception and catering arrangements are completed.

A proposal by the University of Illinois at Springfield to host MWAIS'07was reviewed. The executive committee unanimously approved the following arrangements:

  • 2007 Midwest Association for Information Systems Conference to be hosted by the College of Business and Management, University of Illinois at Springfield, May 18-19 2007.
  • Venue: Springfield Hilton (Downtown Springfield)
  • Reception: Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (Downtown Springfield about 5 minutes walk from the Hilton) 6:00 to 9:00 PM Friday
  • Conference co-chairs: Rassule Hadidi, In Lee
  • Program co-chairs: Arkalgud Ramaprasad, Matthew Nelson
  • Local Arrangement Chair: Michele Gribbins

Dan proposed that we announce to ISWorld and our mailing list participants that charter memberships to MWAIS are available by sending Chelley a $10 check by May 31. He also suggested that we begin to explore options for developing a newsletter and other member services.

Vance agreed to make arrangements to move the MWAIS website onto the AIS site.

The executive committee voted to authorize Chelley to open a checking account for the chapter, and Chelley agreed to prepare recommended bylaw changes prior to the chapter business meetin at MWAIS 06.

The next meeting of the executive committee was scheduled to occur in person prior to the MWAIS'06 conference.  Committee members and conference/program committee members who can attend will meet at 11am Friday, May 5 at the Marriot main desk and then proceed to the Grand Valley State University campus. The meeting adjourned at 2:00 pm Central.
